"Musicians deserve to be paid for use of their work"
This is the commentary of Jennifer Bendall on Washington Post dated April 26, 2010. US Congress is serious in ammending the Copyright law that seemingly tolerates music radio radio stations to earn billions and billions without giving due compensation to musicians and artists who performed the songs played on the air.
But on the side of radio station owners, especially those who are small scale, what does this Performance Rights Act mean? Isn't it that radio is doing a big favor to artists, musicians and record labels in selling their records?
According to the commentary "representatives from musicFIRST (Fairness in Radio Starting Today) and the National Association of Broadcasters are meeting at the request of members of Congress to find common ground on the issue."
What is your stand? Is your station willing to pay the artists? Are you willing to spend for something that earns you a living? Are you willing to sacrifice revenue for the sake of fairness?
