Old WLS Jingles Are Back On Air!

Since the initiative of Satellite radio services in turning back the hands of time by rebroadcasting programs of legendary US stations, several terrestrial radio stations have followed suit. This meant a comeback of well known and grown up playlists, shows, commercials, familiar voice of disc jockeys and of course the jingles.

More recently, WAKY went back on air after fifty years of hibernation. Along with its come back is the use of old PAMS jingles once again.

In May 28, WLS, another legendary US station recreated the golden years of its heyday with their memorial day celebration aptly called Big 89 Rewind. The program showcased the music and the fun that WLS was famous in the 70s. During that time, WLS 890 AM was known as the Rock of Chicago. And since the frequency of WLS was an FCC clear frequency, WLS was heard all over the continental U.S. crystal clear during the night time. The station even had fan mails from Australia and U.K.

Big 89 rewind has everything about the sound of WLS, even the jocks. Familiar names on the airwaves are once again heard like Larry Lujack, Tommy Edwards, Fred Winston, Chris Shebel, Jeff Davis, John Records Landecker and Tom Kent.

WLS jingles used in the program are those produced by PAMS and Jam Creative Production. Digg!
